Which part of the equipment needs to communicate?
The reader must deliver the code to the validation application, or the existing software must expose that event. The controller needs a documented way to receive authorisation. Some projects can connect through existing software; others need an additional component or different equipment.
Is a USB or network connection enough?
A physical port does not guarantee a usable interface. Request documentation covering code formats, protocols, permissions and required licences. Confirm who can configure the equipment and whether maintenance or contractual restrictions apply.
How can we test before buying equipment?
Run a trial with one reader and one entrance. Use FareHarbor test codes and reproduce actual lighting, phone screens and printed tickets. Record successful reads, failures and total time to an admission decision, using criteria agreed before the trial.
What should I send to get a proposal?
Prepare an inventory for each entrance covering models, software versions, network access and the maintenance supplier. Add expected peak arrival volume and ticket rules. Kapta can use this information to scope the project; compatibility applies to the configuration assessed.
