Which features should a municipal civil protection app include?

Kapta · 15/09/2026

Start with residents' tasks and the municipal team's ability to maintain information. Notices, contacts and useful locations are a starting point; each feature needs reliable content, an owner and a simple user journey.

What should appear first on the home screen?

Agree priorities with the authority: current information, contact access and navigation to relevant content. Identify its source and date. Users should be able to recognise current information without interpreting several equally prominent highlights.

Must every feature be included at launch?

Choose a set the team can maintain and test. A map without an update owner or an unmonitored request inbox creates an expectation that is difficult to meet. Further features can follow once their operating procedures are defined.

Is there an example developed by Kapta?

The Albufeira project documents interface design, iOS and Android development, notifications and contact access. It provides a concrete experience to discuss while defining a new scope for each municipality.

How should the initial assessment be prepared?

Bring three journeys: reading a notice, finding a contact and locating local information. For each, identify who publishes, who reviews and how changes reach residents. Take examples of current content to the discussion with Kapta.
